11/1/06. Fairly new port, here we took an excursion to the Chacchoben Ruins, about 50 miles inland.

These folks are standing in the middle of the road selling fresh pineapple. We stopped and got a few slices, it ws the best pineapple I have ever had.

A small school.
We visited Costa Maya on November 1st, which is the day of the dead. It's a holiday that goes in conjunction with All Saint's Day. More on this later.

This was a little memorial for the day of the dead. November 1st is for the children who have died. It is the tradition to prepare the kids' favorite meal, and leave candy and small toys for them as well as to light the candles.
